I am very pleased to announce that my work has been featured in ‘The Adobe Illustrator CS3 WOW! Book’.

The author, Sharon Steuer, contacted me in May 2006 saying that she would like to see my work in the book. Soon after Adobe invited me to beta test Adobe Illustrator CS3 so that I could test out the new features in CS3 and share my experiences using the program with Sharon.
My pages explain the “advanced techniques” I used to create the globe illustration for Climate Concern UK which combine vector drawings in Adobe Illustrator with textures imported from Adobe Photoshop.

The book has been published by Peach Pit Press and is available to buy now.
It is jam packed full of hundreds of techniques and I recommend the book to anyone who wants to learn more about Adobe Illustrator. Suitable for both beginners and experts. You can see the Climate Concern image in the illustration section of my web portfolio.
I’m now selling Christmas Cards at my new online store www.busstopcards.com
£3.99 for a pack of 8 christmas cards including envelopes. Lithographically printed on 400gsm silk artboard.
I have plenty of packs in stock and they normally dispatch within 24 hours of your order on working days.
They feature an illustration of a Number 12 London Routemaster Bus like my Dad’s Routemaster Bus which we were lucky enough to be able to buy 3 years ago.
I designed the card and the online store. Customers can pay using Paypal whether or not they have a Paypal account.
Today I launched a new website for Guisborough Estate Agents - Cook and Forth.
The site aims to improve the companies web presence and encourage web users searching for homes in and around Guisborough to view homes that Cook and Forth represent on Rightmove and Home Sale websites.
The design is based on the companies strong branding used in all their adverts and publications. The site can viewed at www.cookandforth.co.uk
Today I received a letter to say I have passed my C&G 7302 - Certificate in Delivering Learning !!
I started the course in September to build up my teaching skills and i’ve notice an improvement in recent Adobe Flash and Illustration workshops I’ve taught.
Last week I was invited to the official opening of the new design building at Sunderland University where I gained my first class BA(Hons) Illustration and Design almost 4 years ago.
It was a really good event and I enjoyed speaking to my previous lecturers and sharing ideas and tips with current illustration students.
On leaving the building I was given a 2007 prospectus and was thrilled to see that my spider character was used as an enormous example of previous students work with a quote from me !!

Since my last post in December I have been really busy both teaching students in 3 schools and working on several big (and exciting) illustration projects that I will be revealing very soon.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a great New Year !!
I have many plans for the business and this site in the New Year so stay tuned !
Thanks for this year
David

“The Pebble People - Save the Day” book I illustrated earlier in the year has just had its website updated with my illustrations.
I think it looks fantastic the way they have used my illustrations.
